Affiliation with The UKHCA Training and Assessment Centre

NVQs can be expensive. For those employers looking for a cost-effective method of providing qualifications, which is not reliant on the availability of funding , the Centre will assist with the development of in house assessment strategies.

Partnership working with UKHCA

The Centre offers employers the opportunity to work in partnership for the delivery of NVQ Levels 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care. This can be achieved through either:

• the affiliation of qualified assessors already employed by the organisation or
• suitably experienced senior care workers or first line managers undergoing assessor training with UKHCA to become affiliated assessors

UKHCA Associate Assessors

The work-based assessors remain in the employment of the individual organisation but become UKHCA Associate Assessors. They can deliver vocational qualifications through the UKHCA Centre.

Organisations that have chosen this method of providing qualifications often find that the quality of care delivered increases, whilst staff turnover decreases.

Training Network

The Centre is building a network of employers wishing to become affiliated to the Centre. The advantages of joining this type of network are:

• evidence of commitment to workforce development
• career structure for senior care workers
• reduced costs of NVQ provision
• Structure for supervision and quality assurance programmes
• ongoing access to up to date NVQ and training information
• access to professional training for both care workers and managers
• priority information regarding availability of local funding
