Conferences and Workshops

UKHCA will continue to run its successful conference and event programme in 2014. Workshops will include popular events such as medication and end of life care and we will add to this workshops requested by members as the year progresses.

Once again, we will be holding a number of HR workshops, such as recruitment and retention and performance management. In addition, we hope to run a number of business support workshops such as health and safety and developing the care business.

If there are other workshops you would like to see us host in 2014, or to suggest a workshop topic and location please e-mail conferences@ukhca.co.uk. Whilst we can't promise to hold an event close to you, the programme will be developed based on the location of those who have expressed an interest in a course (provided our minimum numbers have been achieved).

Don't forget that all events can now be booked by debit or credit card. To use this service, please phone 020 8661 8185.

Registered Managers Workshop - Hackbridge, 9th Sep 2014

The role of the registered manager is defined within the Care Quality Commission’s Essential Standards of Quality and Safety (2010), with an expectation that training will take place to ensure they have the necessary skills and experience to carry out the activity the organisation is regulated for.

During this workshop we shall explore the legal responsibilities of a registered manager and how this impacts upon business development in a changing market.

End of Life Train the Trainer Workshop - Birmingham, 12th Nov 2014

Over 500,000 people die in the UK each year, and projections estimate that the death rate will rise by 17% from 2012 to 2030 across the UK.

It is therefore imperative that homecare workers should be well-trained and able to support service users wishing to stay at home when nearing the end of their life.

UKHCA’s End of Life “Train the trainer” style programme, which includes a resource guide, trainer’s handbook, a PowerPoint presentation and a CD containing the entire course, has been designed to ensure you can train your care staff to a high standard.

Medication Train the Trainer Workshop

Medication is an increasing aspect of care currently being requested and delivered by domiciliary care organisations. In order that medication administration is safe, organisations must ensure that their care workers are trained to a competent level to deliver medication.

UKHCA's bespoke domiciliary care medication train the trainer pack is specifically designed to enable organisations to train their staff in-house.

Delegates attending this workshop will receive a detailed and comprehensive medication training resource pack, which includes a trainer’s handbook, a staff workbook, exercises and competency sheets and a CD containing a PowerPoint presentation and the entire course.

Tendering for Homecare Services Workshop - Hackbridge, 5th Nov 2014

Local authority contracts are still the mainstay of homecare providers, with some 82% of homecare providers’ work coming this way. Even with the growing personalisation agenda contracting continues to play a major part in business development and growth.

This workshop is designed for domiciliary care providers who wish to supply services under contract with a local authority or primary care trust. By the end of this workshop, delegates will understand the tender process and contractual risks and be prepared to submit a tender for a domiciliary care contract.
