Care Quality Commission seeks views on plans for next five years 27/01/2016

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is seeking views on its plans for the next five years in a consultation document ‘Shaping the future’, which was produced following responses to CQC's 2015 discussion paper 'Building on Strong Foundations'.

The Commission is proposing a single system of measuring quality to help providers better understand their quality of care and share this information with CQC. Data would be used to promote a risk-based approach to regulation, which would support a more targeted and tailored inspection programme that would allow CQC to inspect services rated 'good' and 'outstanding' less frequently and lend greater support to those performing less well. The consultation closes on 14 March 2016. UKHCA will be preparing a response on behalf of members, so please do email your views to by 29 February 2016.

The CQC is holding a live Twitter Q and A session between 1 and 2pm on Wednesday. To pose a question, send @CareQualityComm a tweet using the hashtag #CQCStrategy. UKHCA response to the consultation.
