UKHCA replies to National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage consultation 02/08/2016

UKHCA has responded to the Low Pay Commission (LPC) consultation on what the National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW) should be from April 2017. The NLW is due to be increased to just over £9 by 2020, subject to sustained economic growth, and the Commission propose a straight line increase taking the NLW to around £7.60 from April 2017. The remaining levels of NMW (21-24, 18-20, 16-17 and apprentice rate) will also rise in April 2017 (meaning the increases already announced from October 2016 will be for six months only). UKHCA drew heavily on members' replies to our recent survey, which formed an important part of our response. Thank you to everyone for their comments. The Low Pay Commission is now considering all the written and oral evidence presented to it, with a view to making recommendations to Government in time for the Autumn Statement in November.
