CQC: Consultation on registration - criteria for defining a provider of regulated activities 24/01/2018

CQC completed a consultation on registration changes which asked for views on proposals to clarify CQC's definition of a provider of regulated activities so that entities meeting 'direction and control of care' criteria will need to register with CQC. CQC said this could mean that entities that sit above currently registered providers will need to register with CQC in the future.

CQC then worked to develop indicators that describe the criteria for defining a provider of regulated activities and asked for views in a quick further consultation. These indicators describe activities which entities may be carrying out and are designed to help people decide if they are required to register with CQC.

UKHCA responded to the further consultation advising CQC to adopt plain English and to simplify the structure of the document it describes.

There is more information about this consultation on the CQC online community, with a web form for response: To register with the online community, see: Deadline for response 6 February 2018.
