Clarification by RQIA on compliance with Standard 8.18 on equipment

This document is available to UKHCA members only. Information on how to join UKHCA.

Here is an exchange of emails between UKHCA Policy Team and RQIA dated 29th July – 2nd August 2010 (mentioned in September 2010 Homecarer) which explains RQIA’s view on compliance with Standard 8.18 of the Domiciliary Care Agencies Minimum Standards. This Standard imposes obligations on providers to make sure equipment in users’ homes used for personal care is well-maintained and can cause providers an issue, particularly where equipment supplied by Trusts has no maintenance records.
