UKHCA Briefing on CQC A New Start consultation

UKHCA Senior Policy Officer Francis McGlone has produced a briefing on CQC's consultation A New Start, which describes changes the CQC proposes to make to the way it regulates, inspects and monitors care. The proposals are CQC’s next steps in implementing its strategy and responding to the recommendations of the Francis report into the failings at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and the government’s response in Patients First and Foremost. The consultation sets out how it will inspect services, including NHS trusts and foundation trusts and independent acute hospitals, plus joint proposals between CQC and the Department of Health (DH) to change the legislation that underpins its work. (Out of date but kept for reference purposes.)
