Media Release
United Kingdom Homecare Association Ltd
21 July 2016

Following the sad announcement about the loss of ADASS President Harold Bodmer, Mike Padgham, Chair of the United Kingdom Homecare Association said:

“On behalf of the United Kingdom Homecare Association, I would like to express my deep sadness that Harold Bodmer passed away so suddenly.

“I have known Harold for many years and he was a genuine person who cared for everyone.

“His death is a great loss to social care and our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Harold was a well-recognised leader who worked hard to achieve better social care for everyone who needed it and he will be really missed.”

Bridget Warr CBE, UKHCA Chief Executive, added:

“Harold Bodmer was a distinguished man who faced the tough challenges within local government head-on; he always demonstrated his deep commitment to people supported in their local communities.

“He was without doubt a positive ally within the social care sector.”

Notes for Editors

1. UKHCA’s mission, as a member-led professional association, is to promote high quality, sustainable care services so that people can continue to live at home and in their local community. We do this by campaigning and through leadership and support to social care providers.

2. Homecare encompasses provision of personal care, to people in their own homes. For many, homecare is the alternative of choice for people who would otherwise need to move into residential accommodation.

3. The majority of homecare is funded by the state (usually by local council social services departments, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), or Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland). However, homecare services are largely delivered by independent and voluntary sector providers working under contracts with the statutory sector.
