Lords launch inquiry into funding challenges facing EnglandLords launch inquiry into funding challenges facing England

There has been another parliamentary call for evidence on social care funding, this time from the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee. The Committee is asking for views on what are the funding challenges for social care in England, and how can they be overcome. Questions include why have successive governments been reluctant to address challenges in the delivery of social care? How can a sustainable funding model for social care supported by a diverse and stable market be created? How can the cost of the provision of social care be fairly distributed? And what lessons can be learnt from elsewhere in the United Kingdom, or from other countries, in how they approach social care?

The deadline for responses is 9 October 2018. The Committee is looking for concise submissions of preferably no more than three pages. The inquiry relates to England but the Committee say it may be possible to learn from other parts of the UK.

Details of the inquiry and how to submit evidence

UKHCA members are welcome to send their views to by 1 October 2018, to contribute to our response on behalf of members.
