Government response to CPA immigration letter worryingGovernment response to CPA immigration letter worrying

The Care Provider Alliance, of which UKHCA is a member, wrote to the Home Secretary to express concerns over the proposed salary threshold outlined in the Immigration White Paper. The letter also highlighted concerns over the Migration Advisory Committee's recommendations over shortage occupation lists, pointing out that many careworkers will not meet the qualifications criteria.

The response from the Government indicates that they have not accepted the social care sector's view that care workers are high skilled but will not meet the salary threshold of £30,000 which had been suggested by the Migration Advisory Committee.

A programme of events is being held around the country to engage with employers across the regions and countries of the UK to hear their concerns and issues with regards to shortages.
