Government planning for 'no deal' Brexit and failures in social care marketGovernment planning for 'no deal' Brexit and failures in social care market

A leaked document, apparently by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and reproduced in the Guardian newspaper, shows Government's concerns about the risks the adult social care sector could face in the event that the UK leaves the EU on 29th March without a deal. The document sets out a number of potential risks and how the government is planning for various scenarios, including provider failure.

UKHCA's Policy Director, Colin Angel, said:

"One should expect a responsible government department to be preparing for worse-case scenarios. UKHCA have been working with DHSC and CQC to share the providers' view of the risks of a 'No-Deal' Brexit, particularly given the evidence of the vulnerability of the state-funded homecare market that already exists."
