The King's Fund Social Care 360 report suggests in real terms, total expenditure on social care by councils in England is still £700million less than 2010/11 but demand for services has risen. The rate of new requests is rising from working age adults but decreasing from older people. In 2017/18 there were 1.8 million request for social care support, 33,000 more than in 2015/16.
