ADASS Budget Survey 2019 publishedADASS Budget Survey 2019 published

ADASS has published their annual report into the financial position of local authorities in England with regards to adult social care. The key messages of this year's report states that:

"the problems councils and providers face have got progressively worse. The system is not only failing financially, it is failing people."

Key facts from 2019:

  • Adult social care services account for 37.4% of local authority budgets;
  • Only 35% of councils felt confident in meeting their statutory obligations;
  • Increased cost pressure through rising demand and changing demographics was 3.3% of the adult social care budget;
  • Majority of councils increased fees by 3% and 4.9% to care providers.
