New legislation introduced to improve quality health and social care in WalesNew legislation introduced to improve quality health and social care in Wales

The Health and Social Care (Quality and Engagement) (Wales) Bill was introduced into the National Assembly for Wales on 17 June 2019.

The bill will:

  • ensure that NHS bodies and ministers think about the quality of health services when making decisions;
  • ensure NHS bodies are open and honest with patients and service users;
  • create a citizen voice body to enable people to provide feedback on health and social services;
  • enable the appointment of vice chairs for NHS trusts.

If passed by the National Assembly, it will become law in summer 2020. More information can be found on the Welsh Government website.
