Extra 75,000 homecare packages and 13 million additional hours of home care paid for by iBCFExtra 75,000 homecare packages and 13 million additional hours of home care paid for by iBCF

The Government has reported that the funding from the Improved Better Care Fund (iBCF) for 2018-2019, amounting to £674 million, has paid for an additional 75,000 homecare packages equating to 13 million hours of care.

First announced in the Spring Budget 2017, the purpose of the iBCF was to meet adult social care needs, reduce delayed transfers of care and stabilise the social care market. The data collected shows that on average, local authorities increased hourly fees paid to homecare providers to £16.41 per contact hour. This compares to UKHCA's minimum price for care per contact hour of £18.93.

Ministers previously confirmed the renewal of the Better Care Fund for 2019/20.
