Deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5 pm, 4 DecemberDeadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5 pm, 4 December

The deadline for applying for a proxy vote, to vote in the General Election, is 5 pm on 4 December.

There is information on voting in the I am a voter' section of the Electoral Commission's website. This covers casting votes in the ballot and taking part in the democratic process.

The deadline to apply to vote by post has passed, but there is still time to apply to vote by proxy in England, Scotland and Wales - the deadline is 5 pm on 4 December. The same deadline applies in Northern Ireland but applications for a proxy vote must be made on grounds of unforeseen circumstances of ill health.

While everyone should be free to decide which form of vote to use, the possibility of adverse weather may make opting for a proxy vote one to consider. More information about voting by post and proxy
