Extremely vulnerable told to stay home for at least 12 weeksExtremely vulnerable told to stay home for at least 12 weeks

The government has issued guidance on shielding and protecting people defined on medical grounds as extremely vulnerable from Covid-19. This is for use where people at very high risk of severe illness from Covid-19 live in their own home, with or without support. These people are advised to stay home for at least 12 weeks, avoiding face to face contact except where they need essential support like homecare. This guidance includes advice for care services and links with guidance on homecare provision. NHS England is directly contacting people with these serious underlying conditions to provide advice.
