Welsh AMs issue recommendations on PPE shortages, testing and contact tracingWelsh AMs issue recommendations on PPE shortages, testing and contact tracing

The Welsh Parliament's Health, Social Care and Sport Committee have issued the first report of their Inquiry into the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, and its management, on health and social care in Wales.

The Committee made 28 recommendations to address issues raised in evidence concerning lack of PPE, testing, food and medication supply, support for those shielding, contact tracing and public messaging.

In his introduction, Committee Chair Dr Dai Lloyd MS said, of a potential second wave, 'there are serious challenges ahead and we need to ensure that measures are in place - a resilient supply of appropriate personal protective equipment; ready access to testing with swift turnaround times for results; and a fully functioning contact tracing system. These are the tools that give us the best chance of success against the virus.'

The inquiry remains open, without a deadline. Call for evidence.
