Public Inquiries - their purpose, the practicalities and horizon scanningPublic Inquiries - their purpose, the practicalities and horizon scanning

The Prime Minister has committed to an Independent Inquiry into the handling of the coronavirus pandemic. In an e-briefing, Tim Coolican and Lorna Kenyon, of Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP, outline the purpose of a Public Inquiriry and how it may affect different sectors.

In social care, the Inquiry is likely to examine PPE availability, delays and changes in guidance, the discharge of hospital patients with COVID-19 into care homes from hospital and the collation of data related to social care provision.

At present, it is unclear what form the Inquiry will take or the breadth of its focus.
