Sudden - support service for people bereaved by COVID-19Sudden - support service for people bereaved by COVID-19

There is a new government-funded free sudden bereavement service (set up as a pandemic response and for the long term) in England.

Health and social care professionals can refer people bereaved in sudden or shocking ways from day one of bereavement.

The Sudden service is operated by a charity experienced in helping suddenly-bereaved people through trained and named case workers, operating over the phone.

Sudden provides support for up to 10 weeks, delivered in partnership with relevant community-based statutory and NGO agencies.

The Sudden helpline is 0800 121 6510 but this is due to change - please see www.sudden.org or email help@sudden.org for the latest.

There is a short referral form here
