Fixing Social Care, Better Quality Services and JobsFixing Social Care, Better Quality Services and Jobs

The TUC has issued a report which looks at how the social care system in England can be reformed to provide long-term, sustainable funding of services, which are value for money and meet the needs of individuals and communities.

The TUC recommend fair pay and decent work for the social care workforce, including a £10 an hour minimum wage, an end to zero-hour contracts, better sick pay and a real valuing of care skills, with a national skills and accreditation framework linked to a transparent pay and grading structure.

The report also calls for sectoral collective bargaining and limits on private sector involvement in social care, reflecting the TUC's general approach to these policies.
