CQC conducting review of DNAR practice during the pandemicCQC conducting review of DNAR practice during the pandemic

The Care Quality Commission is carrying out a review of 'do not attempt resuscitation' (DNAR) orders which were used earlier in the pandemic, following concerns they were sometimes imposed by blanket decision, without proper consultation or consent.

The review is at request of the Department of Health and Social Care and will focus on seven clinical commissioning group areas, listed in the CQC's announcement.

The review will be initially based on an analysis of conversations with people affected by this issue and other stakeholders, and report on an interim basis in November, with a final report in early 2021.

CQC is inviting people to let them know about their experience, or that of a loved one, by using CQC's Give Feedback on Care service, or by contacting National Customer Service Centre.
