Northern Ireland lockdown to commence after ChristmasNorthern Ireland lockdown to commence after Christmas

New restrictions are expected to begin in Northern Ireland from Boxing Day and the first phase of these will last until 2nd January. These will return the country to a stricter lockdown similar to that seen in March with non-essential shops closing and people being urged to leave their homes only for essential reasons. No indoor or outdoor gatherings of any kind will be permitted. No household mixing will be permitted indoors or in private gardens (except for emergencies/health and care services). Stronger advice is anticipated for those previously shielding.
