Evaluation of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 - this research draws on the feedback from the workforce and organisations to evaluate the Social Services and Well-being Act. Both positive examples of change and challenges were identified. A further study will be undertaken to seek feedback from service users, carers, families and communities.
The Open University have published a report focusing on social care and social work staffing. Key findings include that whilst 76% of leaders and managers thought their service was sufficiently staffed, 44% said they only had the bare minimum skills required to operate and 54% were worried that Brexit would impact recruitment of skilled staff. The report calls for sustainable funding of the sector; promoting social care to a new audience; creating structured career development and targeting skill gaps.
