Today the Department of Health and Social Care announced further details around the previously announced (see news items from 5 Feb, 2 Feb) new quarantine measures that will come into force from 15 February.
These include that:
- All passengers arriving in England will need to take COVID-19 tests on day 2 and day 8 of quarantine.
- There will be heavy financial penalties, and potentially prison sentences, for non-compliance.
- Those who have been to a 'red list' country (from which there is a travel ban) will need to purchase a 'quarantine package' covering hotel, food, testing, transport, security and welfare support at a cost of £1,750 for a single adult.
