Draft data adequacy decisionsDraft data adequacy decisions

The European Commission has published draft data adequacy decisions that, if approved, will mean that the UK will be found to be 'adequate'. Data adequacy, if agreed, will allow personal data to continue to flow between EU and EEA countries and the UK.

There is currently a 'bridging mechanism' that will remain in place until 30 June or until the adeqacy decision comes into effect. If the European Commission grants an adequacy decision, then no action will need to be taken by social care providers. Digital Social Care had previously advised to consider what action might be required if adequacy is not granted as a contingency.

We await the final decision.
