LSE have published a report on The Conservative Governments; Record on Social Policy from May 2015 to pre-Covid 2020: Policies, Spending and Outcomes. The report draws attention to high levels of unmet need in adult social care with two out of five older people in the most deprived areas not receiving the help that they needed in 2018.

The Health Foundation and the Institute for Fiscal Studies have projected that 458,000 additional social care staff would be needed in England by 2033/34 in evidence provided to the Health and Social Care Committee.
