MSPs report on future of care and support in ScotlandMSPs report on future of care and support in Scotland

The Health and Sport Committee's report on The Future of Social Care and Support in Scotland, which follows the Committee's inquiry that started before the pandemic, concludes:

  • Future reform must be developed and delivered with the individuals who are most impacted.
  • There should be a prevention-focused approach to enable people to live longer, healthier lives at home.
  • There should be a national conversation about reform, and increased public understanding of the role of social care, with improved recognition of the value and status of carers.
  • Local partnerships must be supported to deliver creative, innovative solutions, focussing on well-being outcomes for individuals and communities. There should be an agreed strategic aim and measured outcomes, with improved data collection and monitoring of progress.
