Shielding, vaccination, testing and other updates for WalesShielding, vaccination, testing and other updates for Wales

The Chief Medical Officer in Wales has advised that the shielding of those who are Clinically Extremely Vulnerable should be paused from 1 April. Read the letter.

Twice weekly lateral flow testing for domiciliary care should be extended to supported living staff in services with fewer than 5 residents (you should hear from your local authority).

The Welsh Government has announced that people who are homeless may be prioritised for vaccination. There has also been a clarification on the definition of severe asthma for inclusion in cohort 6.

Guidance has been published on how to book a vaccination if you are an unpaid carer.

Testing is being extended so that tests will be offered to close contacts of positive cases who do not show symptoms in order to identify asymptomatic cases. This will not remove the need to self-isolate. A new framework for the testing of hospital patients has also been published.

The statutory sick pay enhancement scheme has been extended until September.

The workforce risk assessment tool has been updated to include reference to vaccination.

Information on how to get a vaccine if you think you have been missed is available here.

An update has been published on palliative and end of life care.
