New President takes the reins at ADASSNew President takes the reins at ADASS

Stephen Chandler is the new President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), taking over from James Bullion.

UKHCA's CEO, Jane Townson, said:

"The last year posed immense challenges for the social care sector and we have appreciated the support of ADASS and James Bullion's inspiring leadership, as we navigated the pandemic.

"We look forward to an equally constructive relationship with Stephen Chandler and wish him well as he takes the over the reins. We know Stephen is committed to enabling a majority of people to live well at home and flourish in their communities. We are keen to work in partnership with central and local government to ensure that home-based support and care is available for all who need it, in a financially sustainable manner. This includes driving innovation in commissioning and provision of services. We must shift from paying for homecare by the minute to a focus on outcomes, allowing people to direct their own care as far as is possible."

Stephen Chandler is Director of Adult Services at Oxfordshire County Council and was previously Director of Adult Services and lead commissioner at Somerset County Council.
