Advice on AstraZeneca vaccine for people aged under 40Advice on AstraZeneca vaccine for people aged under 40

As a precaution given the extremely small risk of blood clots, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has advised that people aged 30-39 without any underlying health condition should preferentially receive an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This should be done where possible and provided that it does not result in substantial delays to vaccinations.

It follows previous guidance that people aged under 30 should similarly be offered an alternative.
